I realy need some help! I've had ulcerative colitis (?mild) for 7 years. Six weeks ago I started rectally bleeding (large quantities of clotted blood in toilet 20+ times/day). Saw an internist who put me on Prednisone for a month and then he will do a colonoscopy to determine root cause of bleeding. He can't do the coloscopy before one month due to possible complication of bowel perforation given my bowel condition right now. I lost all appetite before Prednisone, was constipated and lost ten pounds in four weeks. I have since gained back some appetite, am passing small amounts of stool, and have gained back 1.5 pounds taking Ensure, etc. The Prednisone keeps the bleeding at bay for the daytime, but it starts up again after supper and through the night (+ 10 times/day now).
I haven't had a colonoscopy in three years because I was doing so well and now this! Please help with any information you can provide from experience.
