No I am no further forward, I am waiting for a letter from my GI Doc re tests and to find out what next, this letter was apparently being sent out last week but as yet has not arrived. Yes the nausea is the pits, I hardly eat now and this isn't helping, I have been suffering from heart burn the last few days, but I think this maybe due to the paint odder in our hose from painting with gloss paint.I really do not understand why doctors make things so much worse by not investigating symptoms until they find the answer, we are not asking them to cure us but just find out why we are so ill. I have not eaten properly since June this year and the nausea is bad, I have lost so much weight now it is not funny. Doctors are more interested in making money or saving money by NOT referring or testing than helping the patient, IMHO anyway. Why does your doctor not want to refer you to a GI doctor, what reason do they give? How bad is your nausea, have you ever been sick? Does it stop you from eating?Ian

  • I know all I want them to do is find out what is wrong with me , I can't believe with all the stuff they have out now they can't find whats wrong with us. every time I go to my doctor he says let's do this or that then when you come back if you arnt better we will refer you to a GI then everytime I come back its the same thing all over again. the nasea can get pretty bad at times, do you have any pressure or feelings of bloating in your stomach? I have this most of the times now. they say at my age it would be very very rare for me to have cancer , and that might be true but that dosnt mean it would be immpossible. how much weight have you loss? what were all your symptoms again? I forgot some of them Hi James,Thanks for asking. I forgot some of themHi James, yes couldn't agree more.Symptoms;Nausea big time, normally 24/7 worse sometime after eating.Weight loss about 10kg since June this year but could be more not checking these days. Some acid refluxNo real pain, but below stomach button bloating after eating.Stomach noiseSome heartburnI did get the letter back from my GI doctor today at long last! All tests clear, no sign of any problem on the upper scope or in the small intestine. All bloods normal including, bone, and celtics etc. Liver etc normal. Scan of intestines normal, liver, kidneys, GB.The G.I did not want to see me again but I phoned and said that I want to see him as it is all very well saying what it is not, but I want to know what is causing it!I am also looking at if anxiety is playing a part, so I will get an evaluation for that, but that will be next year as I have no insurance. The Dr is right stomach cancer is normally in the 40+ age group, but I know someone how is in there early 20s with it, so it can happen.I am happy to list the tests that I have had so far and what they have ruled out if you are interested? What have you had done to you to date?I think I will ask for a stomach emptying study next if possible. I am not sure if I need a colonscopy as I do not have any sympoms that end, I did have one 4-5 years ago and nothing was found then including polyps and it is normally polyps that turn into cancer over time. I shall see what my GI Doc says, I trust him.Ian

  • the only test that they have done is.. x-ray of abdomen blood work FOBT which came back positive for blood barium x-ray of my small intestines and they took stool samples to make sure i had no parisites or infectionwhich came back clear, and that is the only thing they have done. what all have they done with you? and is there anything you think i should get? Tests all depend on symptoms, I can't remember exactly what you have.If you have blood in your stools and pain in your stomach or lower intestines then the gold standard test would be colonscopy and upper gastro camera. Continued weight loss would be a red flag and this would be urgent.Blood tests should include FBC, LFT, U&E plus helicobacter pyloria or biopsy. Thyroid function tests, bone biochemistry. If you have all these and are examined by a GI consultant then I suspect as long as the results are normal then most serious diseases like cancer can be ruled out.I have had all the above tests and many many more including x-rays and scans but I will continue to see my GI doctor until I find out what the problem is.James, I have decided to look at the possibility that anxiety is making matters worse, I have been posting on another forum that deals with this and it is amazing how many symptoms we both have that can come from anxiety, weight loss, nausea to name a few. Do not give up pushing your Dr for a consult but it maybe worth joining the anxiety forum to get info. I should not post the link here but PM me if you are interested. Good luck,Ian
