Hello, i am 27 year old Male... For many many years i have had problems with my bowel, very sensetive to some foods, but only on occasion, i had basically learnt to deal with this. I would normally go to the toilet on average 5-6 times a day. Usually medium sized stools. To this point i had learned to deal with it and continued on with life...

But about a month ago now, i had a VERY VERY bad bought of chronic diarreah, the worse i can ever remember!! It was just one night where i couldnt move off the toilet for around 6 or 7 hours......

From this day is where my problem started to become bad, A week went on and i was still feeling pretty bad, i was getting bad nausea, and couldnt lay down in bed as it just got so bad. I had other boughts of less drastic diarrhea. This carried on for about 2 weeks.... I decided to have a Red meat steak one night and wow..... that night i has chronic diarrhea again!!! again, i just left it at that, another week went on, started to feel slightly better, but still has some nausea, stupidly i had some red meat again, AND THERE I WENT AGAIN... Chronic diarrhea again!!!

It had now been a month of pretty bad nausea and diarrhea spells, so i decided to go to my doctor. He seemed to think that i had acid reflux , so he put me on, Lucose?? after 3 days of this i had to get off it!!! It gave BLoating so bad it was worse then the Nausea!!! I had the Urea breath test done for helicobactor, but that came back negative. Also a whole heaps of blood test done which came back either normal or negative...
I cant remember what it is called , but with the Full blood count test, my result came back as a "5" meaning i has no infection in my system....
Urine test alos came back as normal

I have no idea what is wrong with me and either do the 3 doctors i have no been to.....

The only way i can get the pain to go away is by laying down and going to sleep. I am still able to sleep at night thank god!!! Though, i am now unable to sleep on my sides, and it makes me feel sick in the tummy, and almost like vertigo.....

The last doctor has put me on some ranitidine, i really don't think that it is doing me any good. I think this is what is making me so bloated all the time, as i have only felt the bloating since the medicine..... Apparently its not as harsh as the lacose stuff....

I have been referred to a gastroligist, but this could take months!!!

All the doctors seem to think that my symptoms are from stress!! I really never stressed about anything, until i got this sickness.

I have now lost almost 10 kilos in the last 2 weeks.
I have also started a Gluton/dairy free diet. Will see if this has any effect after 3 weeks. If nothing changes then i think i can rule that out.

The only other thing i can think of, which i find unlikely, is that i am having a sympathetic pregnancy. My girlfriend, is now almost 5 months pregnant. Apparently , these sympathetic symptoms can start at around 4 months, which is about when my pains started..... I don't really have many other symptoms of this, though this could have elevated my stress levels, also along with buying a new house.... i still dont believe this to be the case as it all started with a bad bought of GASTRO..

Anyone have any ideas??? This is starting to really stress out my pregant girlfriend.... and has got the better of me.... I hardly feel like i am going to be able to go to work soon if this keep up....

Thanks

  • Got a whole heap of test results done today. Also got the barium meal test results. Showed that i had a little bit of reflux, no ulcers or anything of that kind. What it did find though is something unexpected. I have a soft tissue mass in the right neck displacing the esophagus. Doesnt seem to be any link to my problems.......???8 weeks now since these problems started. Had another gastro attack last night. This time i think it was the boiled beef silverside. So the last 3 times have been after i have eaten beef....

My Dr thought I had GERD and gave me antacids but they caused constipation and bloating so I had to stop. I have seen 3 GI docs and see a new one tomorrow. I would suggest looking at your liver or GB, even if bloods are normal get a scan of both and see an herpetologist. I have been diagnosed as having NASH but am not sure if my current problems can be put down to this.Good luck,Ian

And don't believe what they say it does cause symptoms like both of us have, a GOOD ultrasound should help diagnose it but the best way is a liver biopsy. But if you do decide on a biopsy get a clotting screen not just FBC first as a liver biopsy can be risky. Yes I was due another endoscopy last friday but decided against it at the time, I did have one a few years ago which was negative, and will have another if my new GI doc tomorrow thinks I need one. Yes I was diagnosed with IBS at the start of this but it is not a safe diagnosis nor is it helpful.Did you have a celiac test,Ian

  • Not yet, but they tell me that it will be obvious when i have the endoscopy.OK but I would ask for a blood test, if the doctor is doing the gastro ask him to make sure that he goes into the first part of the small intestine as well for a biopsy. There are many other tests that need doing if the gasto does not bring results, like Wilsons disease etc, what are the LFT results and INR etc, always ask for numbers not just the so called normal the Drs sometimes give, often clues can be found this way,Ian

  • I strongly suggest that you get a HIDA scan with CCK as soon as you can. This sounds exactly like it is your gallbladder. Doctors will tell you it is IBS or some other cause, like they did with me. It was my gallbladder all along and it took me to discover and demand the test.
