I burp and taste the last thing I ate

I am a 24 year old male and have a host of problems. I have a hiatal (sp?) hernia where part of my stomach can move into my chest. I have acid reflux problems and GERD problems. I am on nexium for these, though I recently got some kind of stomach sickness with a very fast onset. I puked twice, had a lot of gas and pain and burping and diarhea (sp again!). I went to a doctor who did blood work, which didn't come in fast enough for me so I went to a gastrointerologist, who told me it sounds like IBS and he gave me something called zegerid to take instead of Nexium. I am almost out of this Zegerid, and my diarhea is gone as is most of my upper stomach pain that was associated with the gassyness and burping.

My question is related to a problem that is relatively un-serious, I hope. I often find myself burping ever since my sickness, and these burps often taste a little too much like the last thing I ate. Even if I am burping an entire day later it still has the flavor of old food that I ate a long time ago. The burps don't cause nearly as much pain as I was having when I was sick, they are just kind of gross tasting.

If this is some kind of symptom for something horrible please let me know!

Thanks in advance,
