Hemorhoids, anyone?

I have a hemmoroid (a parting gift from my dd when I birthed her almost 14 years ago) and it is getting bigger and more uncomfortable as time goes on. I want it gone. My obgyn gave me the name of a colorectal dr who will put a band around it to get it to fall off.

Anyone have this done? How is the pain? I won't even ask about the embarrassement factor, my guess would be huge.

  • I didn't have the "band" procedure. But my doc cut open the hemorroid and remove the blood clots. He numbed me with a shot then sent me home with pain killers and antibiotics. I can tell you the pain from the "minor surgery" was nothing compared to the pain from the hemoroid from having my son. After it healed I felt wonderful. No more hemorroid pain. And about the embarrasment factor - the nurse tried quietly asking the doctor "are they all that big." It was pretty funny and gave me a good laugh. Apparently she'd never seen one before and mine was huge!!!:)
