Hi, I've been having really bad diarrhea lately, but that's not the problem, it's bright green! Not like neon green, but definitely green. What is this? Is it bad? Will it go away? What's wrong with me!!!

  • Green stools are rarely "bad" from what I've learned. They may indicate too much bile, or bowels moving too quickly (hence, the green bile can't turn color completely from green to yellow to brown). Many doc's say don't put much stock in stool colors. However, FYI, I've heard the worst are such as yellow and especially gray/clay colored stools (also black, which indicates dried-up blood in some cases, but not all). And again, don't freak out if it happens sometimes. I'd be more concerned if it kept going like that for a long time.
