Hi,
I have had IBS for a number of years and have been able to control it really well. It did get worse after having Glandular Fever nearly 3 years ago with upper abdominal pain and diarrhoea. I had a mirena coil fitted in January and ever since then i have become very bloated (looks like i'm pregnant) but also over the last few months i have been having severe upper abdominal pain with diarrhoea and nausea. I gets worse after dairy products, fatty food and spicy food so basically i am really struggling with what i can actually eat. It happened immediately after eating and i have a desperate need to go to the toilet and can be up there for 30-40 minutes with diarrhoea. The colour of the diarrhoea can be quite pale or greeny-brown in colour. It is excruciating after having alcohol no matter how small the amount.
I have been to my doctor and they suggested possibly gall stones/ inflammation but the pain is the whole upper abdomen not specifically one area. I was given peppermint oil tablets to take to see if it could be my IBS but i know it's not that because it is totally different to my IBS. The tablets have not made any difference at all. My grandma did have gall stones a few years ago too. I have been told to go back in a few months if its no better and a might be able to get an ultrasound but it's ruining my life, i feel i can't eat and i worry about going out in case i have to go to the toilet.
Has anyone else had these symtoms before? Could it be something to do with my glandular fever? Or my coil? Or my IBS?
Thanks in advance
