Hello all,
I am a 35 year old male that has been suffering with severe chest and abdominal pain for at least a year and a half maybe more. It first started out as a persistant hunger pain no matter what I ate or when. I was overweight at the time and the doctor did bloodwork and my diagnosis was diabetes. I took it very seriously and have lost 80+ lbs and no longer have any signs of it. Anyways the pain persisted and got worse. It even sent me to the ER once. After the trip to the ER (no diagnosis) I was referred to a GI doctor. The first test run was a upper GI scope. The only thing that revealed was that I had some irritation at the place where my esophagus meets the stomach and where the stomach meets the intestine. I was given Dexilant and sent on my way. It helped for maybe a few days and then I was in the same boat all over again. I was told to give it time for the medication to heal the areas and I believed them. A couple of months and a couple of more appointments went by with no relief. Another couple of tests were run. One being an ultrasound which showed nothing. Then after that a HIDA scan was run that did show that my numbers were really high. If I remember the number was an 85. Finally I thought we were on the right track. I was then refferd to a surgeon. He recommended that the gallbladder should come out. I was in so much pain that I agreed. I had the gallbladder taken out about a week before Halloween of this year. After recovery from the surgery I was actually feeling better. Then in January within a weeks time the pain was back. The pain seems to start on my right rib cage then my whole chest hurts and perhaps the strangest part of all is my jaw hurts like crazy also. Sometimes eating something helps the pain for a little bit but its right back. If it makes any diffrence the pain is alot like a volume ***b. I wake up in the morning not really hurting at all but as the day goes along the pain gets worse and worse peaking around 3 to 4 in the afternoon then it stays pretty consistant throughout the evening sometimes getting unbearable. Recently I have seen another doctor and he put me through a CT scan and another ultrasound. The CT scan showed sludge in my bile duct but the ultrasound showed everything is perfectly normal. As you can probably guess since everything is normal they shrug their shoulders and tell me to keep an eye on it. The test may not show anything but the pain IS real and is horrible. If anyone has any clue as to where I should turn I would be forever great full. Thank you for your time.
