BUBBLES IN STOOL?! What is it???

I have a number of chronic health problems, including malabsorption.
But lately, going to the bathroom has been even worse, because when I have a BM, there are gas bubbles coming from the stool itself - and since I have diarrhea and malabsorption, I can really see it because the stool breaks up upon releasing a lot of gas...almost like Alka Seltzer. I have thrush also, and have for several months. I took nystatin, but it came back. Everything about that weird symptom I've been able to find is about "gut flora," so is it possible that the yeast spread into my GI tract?

I have had brown/black(tar)cola-colored/tea colored urine for over 6 months with severe abdominal spasms(like charley horses) and excess amounts of protein in my urine, including many other symptoms. Please let me know if you have any info. Thanks

The doctors seem to think that I drank enough in my teenage years to have caused chronic pancreatitis in my 20s.

The doctors seem to think that I drank enough in my teenage years to have caused chronic pancreatitis in my 20s.Quite honestly - that sounds pretty dumb unless you consumed large quanties of alcohol for a long period of time and I would assume it would have damaged your liver.I am 41 yrs old not a drinker nor drug user, I take no medications nor have I for most of my life. I have had kidney problems for the last 35 + yrs. The brown/black tea -cola urine is something that started over 6 months ago. I have just had my first round of blood work- awaiting the results. I have /had many of the same symptoms as yourself including weight loss.Have you seen a kidney specialist?(nephrologist) and have you ever been tested for PNH Disease (especially because of you being anemic)?I am sorry you have had to deal with this frustration and dead ends head banging against the wall nonsense. One of the reasons I held off so long even going to the doctor or persuing going back to a doctor - they seem to send you in too many directions and I'm to old for that-Too many people in the same boat will cause it to sink

But they don't want to hear it. I've thought about the possibility of kidney problems...especially since my blood pressure in the last several months has become unpredictable. The health department hear flat out refused to give my copies of every page of my medical records to bring to Shands because there were so many, and they didn't fax them. Instead of requesting themselves than they be faxed, I just got bitched at. I just don't really feel like dealing with it much more.

I took the I don't want to deal with it approach from the get-go except for now the price is to high in not dealing with it.I would like to ask you some questions if that would be okay with you? We may be able to help each other and more selfishly you may be able to help me. However; I really do understand if you do not want to be bothered with it.Let me know if you would like to continue our conversation?

I've been reading all kinds of medical texts in my research, so I would be more than happy to try and help you figure it out.

  • 1. Do you continue to have brown urine? How often over the past 2 yrs?I think I still get it on and off...hard to say when I'm not giving a sample. But sometimes it does seem to be a brownish-yellow (not like a dehydrated dark yellow). Its happened 4 very distinct times for sure in 2 years. Once was when I had about 5 beers in 4 hrs. Sober going to bed, woke an hour and a half later vomiting, had to be brought to the ER when I didn't stop 8 hours later. When they were having me get out of the bed for tests, I noticed my legs hurt really bad and were swollen. The next day, before my ER follow-up, I urinated dark, tea-colored urine.2. Do you have blood and or protein in your urine? There have been multiple times when I have had protein and blood cells (red and white) in my urine. I'd be put on antibiotics while waiting for the cultures to come back, which kept coming back negative. On my records, under chronic problems, is listed "recurrent hemorrhagic cystitis."3. Do you have a family history of kidney disease? Not that I know of.4. Have you ever been tested for PNH disease? (paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria)No.5. Do you have recurring jaundice? After the drinking/dark urine incident, at the follow-up, my doctor had said my sclera were a little yellow, and he ordered a Hep panel, because he thought he knew what was wrong. They were negative, and any time I've ever had a CBC, I've never had elevated bilirubin.6. What does your right side pain feel like and where exactly is the pain on your right side?Under my right rib cage. Its usually a sharp pain. Sometimes, though, I get severe tearing or stabbing epigastric pain, instead. I'll have to shove my fist under my ribs to get some relief.7. Do you have flank pain?I've had flank pain on and off since having a long-standing, what I was told was a kidney infection, but was written down as cholecystitis in early '08 (after this began)8. Do you have a history of urinary track infections/kidney infections and or kidney stones/cysts?Multiple. No stones, only "infections." Blood, but I usually have no actual urinary discomfort anymore.9. Do you have seizures?I had a "convulsive episode" as the ER described it in May 08. I was diagnosed with hypokalemia and hyponatremia, the latter causing seizures. I was told I foamed at the mouth and stopped breathing in the ER.10.Do you crave salt? Much more than I used to.11. Do you have/had itchy skin all over your body?Kind of hard to say...I've had a couple of mysterious rashes that last for about 4 months and go away with no answer. I do get extremely itchy on my face, though, especially my forehead.12. Do you experience a metallic / sweet taste in your mouth?Once in a great while. More sweet.13. Do you ever experience a burning/tingling sensation on your head/face or other parts of your body?Yes, but I've been told its because of my unstable blood pressure (a recent development in the last 8 months or so)
