As child always had stomach pains hospital doctors never found anything
when pregnant first time 24years had mucus and bloody diahorrea - doctor diagnosed ulcerative colitis. Did not want to take steroids all time so only took when bad. Had hospital visits - last one said no sign of ulcerative colitis (this was around 7 years ago) and didn't think I had ever had it (although my doctor did). Been much better for a few years with random attacks - this year have had excessive stress all year - although I am not someone who goes to the toilet every day can be for up to 4 days without going maybe longer - for a few weeks I have been very constipated then spend 3 days going several times a day (not diahorrea) solid but one occasion lots of blood not in stool but in toilet and on tissue (i looked at anus with mirror saw lumpy and whilst looking blood slowly dripping out - thought piles was answer) went to docs (live in france) who examined me said could not see any piles (but I was not bleeding or suffering then) is sending me for colonoscopy to see what is happening with colitis. Have just spent another week constipated and last night severe pain in right hand side around top of hip waist area) today and bleeding alot and very shakey. I must make hospital appointment but cos it is expensive have put it off hoping it will go away, had usual burning like knife sensation in stomach that i always get when having colitis attack. Am very tired and breathing pattern is laboured - any suggestions please as am a panicky person and very worried about it. Am 43 years old.

  • Forgot to mention the doctor did give me antibiotics just incase but as am not good with these have not started them was waiting to see what happened but have really bad wind for few weeks now and on some occasions the smell is like a dead animal for want of a better expression - doctor says that is usually sign of infection.

  • UC can be hard to diagnose, but I think you should have it looked into. You have been having these problems on and off for years, and that is very typical with IBD. Wish you well :)
