Hi. I have not been here for a while. I have been feeling really sick and in alot of pain for the past few weeks. It all started with diarrhea (I also have IBS-D) so I thought it was a usual flareup, which I have not had in a long time. I also got severe cramping pain in my stomach, well it was actually in the small intestine area. I bought some acidolpholis and started taking it and the diarrhea stopped, and the cramping got a little better. Not so severe. I read online about bacterial overgrowth and that people with gastroparesis (I have it) and poor motility can get this. Well, The pain continued, and started to get worse again, so I started taking Levaquin that I had left over from a sinus infection in July. I read that they use this often in bacterial overgrowths. Today is my 4th day on it and the pain has gotten a little better. Do you think this is what I have? I saw a new GI doctor and I am scheduled for an upper scope (endoscopy) later in October. But they wouldn't do the testing for the bacterial because I am taking this antibiotic. I swear to you, I wanted to die from this pain. It was completely unbearable and I couldn't take it anymore, that is why I started the levaquin and am still praying to God that it works. What do you think?? Do you think I have this? Do you think the antibiotic is working? What should I do??? I still feel sick inside. No vomiting or nasua or fever. Just pain and bloating (severe) and gas. Thankyou for your help.

Thankyou for your help. any anit-biotic is like napalm for the digestive system...it kills everything by containment and starvation...but they die too after about 2 hours...so take the anti-biotic and then in 3 hours take a multi-strain probiotic like primal defence...you are only taking acidolpholis....this is like sending a lone gunner against an army...each bactiera has a different funtion...primal defence has 14 different bacteria! if an hso bacteria makes you nervous..there are several fructos based bacteria on the market...but take in consideration...researchers allow fruit based bacteria to grow 14 days...soil based bacteria cultivate for 6 months...which do you think is stronger! hope this helped!

  • Thankyou for your reply and I am very sorry it took me so long to reply back. I am still very sick. Still having the same pain and discomforts and a very nasty smell and taste. I know that I still have the bacterial overgrowth but my doctors don't believe me. My GI doctor wouldnt test me again for it so I went back to my family doctor and she is agreeing to. I have it done tomorrow. Any idea why those two courses of antibiotics didn't work? The first one was levaquin. And I can't remember the other one. But I know I still have it because my symptoms are still the same. They have not changed in all these months. I am scared that I could die because I can't eat at all. I found out my vitamin D level is very low and started taking those from my doctor. She did blood work and found this out. I also had a cat scan of the abdominals done, and that came out normal. Also a stool sample and that was normal. So its got to be the overgrowth right?? I started taking phillips colon health and it took some of the nasty smell and taste away. So I think it is helping alittle. BUT will I ever be well?? I am still in constant pain. And so angry because the doctors don't believe me. Any advice? Thanks for all your suggestions.
