Apples and illness

Hi all,

Yesterday I decided to start eating including more fruit in my diet.  I began by eating an apple, which I haven't done for years, but quite soon afterwards I started to feel strange in the stomach.  Today I had another one, and again, afterwards I felt the same slightly illish feeling in my stomach. I told my partner, and she too felt ill from the apples.  The apples are fresh.  Upon googling I found that many people reported feeling ill after eating apples too, but I couldn't find an explanation.

I am wondering if anyone has experienced this and if anyone knows what is going on?
