6 weeks ago I was hospitalized for appendicitis. CAT scan revealed abscess around perforated appendix. I was given intravenous antibiotics (2days) and oral antibiotics (3 weeks). It's been 6 weeks after hospitalization and I am waiting for colonoscopy to check out colon. I have started to feel pain in low right quadrant during urination and defecation as well as pain in mid right abdomen (and also in the back). Also, ever since I left hospital I have noticed gas just to the right of the navel but doesn't hurt. The colonoscopy is supposed to reveal whether the appendix is in ok condition or has to be removed. My question is: has anyone had a similar case of appendicitis (appendix burst, can't operate) and what was your experience because I don't really notice a significant improvement in my condition and I don't know what to do. Any doctors with experience in this situation? The doctor looking after my condition is a colorectal cancer specialist but if I want a second opinion, who is the right specialist? Thanks.
