One year ago august 12th I rolled my right ankle and this is what I did to it; Syndesmosis rupture (high ankle sprain) ATFL partial tear with an avulsion and I strained the 2 peroneal tendons up the back of my leg. My problem is that when I wear boots or any shoes other than flip flops my 2 to 3 outer toes and the ball of the right side of my foot go numb. I also have a burning feeling up the back of my leg and around my ankle bone, the burning is all the time. I had 2 MRI's the first about a week after I did it, then the other about 5 months later both without contrast. The doctor said that I have healed great without surgery. I had nerve tests done and was told no nerve damage. But I have numbness from pressure from my shoes. When I take my shoes off the numbness goes away in my toes and ball of the foot on right side. Should I request a MRI with contrast in case they are missing something? Or will I just have to live with this the rest of my life? I am a truck driver and this is my accelerator and breaking foot and I am driving barefoot which is also causing fatigue to my foot and ankle. The foot doctor started with orthodontics's and now has said no boots, and is now wanting me to go to a birkenstock shoe and use lidoderm patches for the numbness.
