How do I get rid of a corn?

Due to long toes, I've developed a corn on one of my feet. Summer is coming and it's not exactly ideal for cute open-toed shoes.

Do I need to see a doctor about this or can I take care of it myself? What's the best treatment??

  • Since this is your first time experiencing this......go see a podiatrist - he/she can remove it and it does not hurt at all. Then they can tell you what to do if it happens again. Trust me -- better safe than sorry.

  • A corn can be shaved down by a podiatrist. However, the cause of the corn is due to increased pressure at the joint. If you have the corn shaved down....it will look better, but probably come back again. If you have significant pain and deformity of the toe, you may consider hammer toe surgery...which is the only way to "get rid of a corn"
