It has been 3 months since I woke up one morning with a sharp pain in my arm (between the elbow and shoulder). The pain subsided but my thum became numb and it no longer bends.
I have had a cat scan and other tests performed on my hand and arm and they showing nothing wrong.
What else can I do?
Thank you

  • Oh my gosh! Please tell me you still check this blog! I want to know what happened with you. The same thing happened to me and 4 doctors have not been able to figure out what is wrong! First they said it was form parsonage-turner syndrome, which is a rare disorder where there is shoulder pain and then paralisys. They have discounted that diagnosis because it happened again. The first time it happened, I had severe pain on the inside of my upper arm, then could not straighten my arm for a while. There was a tight, pulling sensation up and down my arm. When the pain went away, I could not bend the tip of my index finger or turn my wrist in. They identified two nerves (that were not connected) that weren't working anymore. It happened again recently and now my thumb tip does not bend. I have had MRI's of my neck, arm and shoulder and the doctors are baffled. I am getting worse and have no answer. Any ideas?

  • I hope you have found a cure. Just thought I would let you know that I was just diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. I too woke up with severe pain in my arm between the elbow and the shoulder. I was given Nuerontin for the nerve pain. The second Nuerologist made the diagnosis. I too cannot bend my thumb. I have no pain in the thumb. I thought you might want to look into this diagnosis.....Oh my gosh! Please tell me you still check this blog! I want to know what happened with you. • That's a very difficult situation and you must have gone through too much of discomfort. But I hope that everything is ok now. So what did you do for it and what medications did you take?
