 I have a problem with the moons on my fingernails. They are large and some are pointed. I would like to know if any one has the same problem or knows what causes it.

  • Are your fingernails otherwise normal? You might want to look up something called Nail Patella Syndrome. It's a rare genetic birth defect that can cause hypoplastic nails and kneecaps, among other things. I have it. My left index finger has a fingernail that is definately not normal. It's split in half (basically it's two little nails on one finger) and my kneecaps are not connected the way they should be, and I've got a few problems with some of my tendons not being connected normally. I've apparently got a mild form of NPS, since it doesnt usually bother me much. Here's a link to a friend's website about NPS. http://hometown.aol.com/PACALI/npspage.html

  • yes but it could also be something to do with the heart apparently. If you search on the internet on google for nail disorders under the image search then these will give you some pictures to compare with.
