Please Help!

My 48 year old niece suffers from Fibromyalgia, has no health insurance.

Her anxiety level is very high causing her blood pressure to go up. She has a short attention span, a speech impariment unable to articulate her thoughts, feelings clearly becomes angry and frasrtuated. Her coping skills are limited, I try to help her, but she says I make her nervous. She is nervous about everything, agitated unwilling to be helped. She says yes help her then she backs down for she can't cope with new changes.

I hate to see her so much in pain plus extremely anxious unable to explain her self. Any advise or suggestions, I would deeply appreciate it.

Harder with Fibromyalgia but seems like she might have other issues. Was she exposed to something while in the womb? Not trying to be mean, just curious.

  • I have fibromalgia, and it is a miserable condition. Thankfully it is not deadly. Your niece should apply for disability or medicaid so she can get some help, especially for her anxiety, her blood pressure, and her pain. Some states will let you apply on line for medicaid, she can apply for social security online but she will need a diagnosis from a rheumatologist for the fibro claim, and she will need a diagnosis from a psychiatrist for the anxiety and cognitive problems. So she needs to be under care before they will approve her claim and even then it can take a long time. You can enter her claim if she can't do it herself. I have anxiety, and have been to the er many times with panic attacks, I now have agoraphobia as a result, (the psychiatrist didn't help). Sometimes I can't even speak from the anxiety, and everyone makes me nervous. My meds are generic and are all on the $4. list at WalmartI take flexeril which is a muscle relaxant, and atenolol to control my heart beat and blood pressure and it also helps with anxiety. I wish I could help you more.
