Doctors only test blood and urine. What do I have?

I am writing on behalf of my girlfriend who has been suffering from odd symptoms for 3 weeks now.

It started overnight as just pain and cramping in the bladder and abdomen, but quickly developed random shooting pains throughout the body (particularly the knees and hands). She also complained about back pains and sore muscles.

She is also suffering from severe loss of appetite (and weight loss), general malaise, sleeplessness, dizziness and brain fog.

She has NO: nausea, headaches, diarrhea, bloating/distention, obvious blood in the stool, fever, itchiness or rashes. It also does not hurt to press on the abdomen.

She does have a history of chronic cyclists and bladder infections.

The only medication she is on is birth control.

We had seen quite a few doctors ranging from clinic level to hospitals, but the only thing they've done is a general blood scan which showed no infection or anything else wrong, and a urine test which too showed nothing so they'd say she was fine and send her home.

We did have an abdominal and pelvic/intervaganal ultra-sound done, both showed nothing (they never actually got back to us on the pelvic, but we assume it was fine).

We don't know what's wrong or what to do, but we suspect it may be fibromyalgia.

Please, any suggestions on what to do. She does not have a family doctor and we are out of ideas.

  • Upon further reading on this forum, I discovered the 18 points of FM. I can't confirm, but I don't believe her pain is isolated to these locations. Can you have FM if you react to pain in other areas other than the 18?
