  • :-) You might have what is commonly referred to as Meralgia Paresthetica, which is entrapment and compression of the peripheral nerve originating at L4/L5 and coarsing through the hip area. I too have a similar issue where there's a numb patch of skin on the right side of my upper right thigh. About 5 years ago I was learning to rock climb and wore my safety harness incorrectly, putting pressure on my pelvic bone, which most likely caused a crushing of that particular nerve. Among other symptoms/complaints I've been told by three neurologists that the numbness could be MP. The nerve is strictly a sensory nerve and has no muscle innervation, so you most likely won't have leg weakness. The numbness is the least of my worries so it doesn't bother me to know that I'll probably never have sensation there again. My biggest problem is with chronic and pervasive paresthesia down my buttocks and both legs. I also have involuntary muscle fasciculations which feel like little tiny popcorn under my skin constantly throughout the day. The symptoms subside after a good night's sleep but always get progressively worse as the day goes on. My advice to you would be to ask your doctor if it could be MP. If they prefer to explore more then I would go with getting a full work-up (EMG, nerve conduction velocity test, lumbar/brain MRI) to rule out a more serious, underlying cause. Of course, you'll want to get insurance before getting the tests as they would be economically prohibitive to pay for them out-of pocket. Good luck with everything..Let me know if you have any questions. hii am a 31 year old female and for the last year i have had a number of things wrong..my full list of symptoms arepain under right rib...had gall bladder removed pain continuedirritable bowel symptomspain in neckpain in leg joints...groinrestless leg syndrome....twitching legsback pain upper and lowerclicking jaw....very annoyingpins and needles mainly right arm and handfatiguenausea i dont have all these syptoms at once ,they seem to take turns ,i have had various lab tests done all came back negative,i have also had Flexible Sigmoidoscopy and an endoscopy both with negative results..this is all starting to make me feel depressed now all i want is a diagnosis, does anyone else have similar i feel so alone in this im sure my gp thinks im just depressed but its actually the symptomes making me feel that way, any advise would be appreciated ...thankyou:( frustrated..http://forums.wrongdiagnosis.com/images/buttons/quote.gif kxsxnxcxoxhxView Public ProfileFind all posts by kxsxnxcxoxhx#2 http://forums.wrongdiagnosis.com/images/statusicon/post_old.gif Yesterday, 10:49 PM hi my name is marta i have fibro for twelve yr i sound like you have fibro. i think teh restlessleg is the worst. if you like to talk please email me at; msanchez12@charter.net

You can also have the pins and needles in your arms, hands, legs, feet.I have both hypothyroidism and sleep apnea (don't know which types yet). With hypo T you can get your symptoms as well and even flu-like symptoms.Do you have either hypersomnia (excessive sleeping) or insomnia? Both are signs of hypo t and sleep apnea. And sleep apnea is a symptom of hypo T.I had irritable bowel, supposedly, but now that I am on the correct amount of thyroid replacement I no longer have it.

  • I agree with the above post. Even though your symptom are a like to FMS there are many more symptoms that are not showing up to confirm a dx. I would be thinking more towards the sleep apnea. It is a symptom of FMS , but it does not mean you have both so, I would have a sleep study done to confirm or rule out the sleep apnea.
