Why would silica work for a Bartholin's gland cyst?

Why would silica work for a Bartholin's gland cyst? Any answers on that one? There are a lot of chemistry majors out there. I'm not going to try a "natural cure" without some scientific basis for doing so. Have tried the Juniper Berry, Lavender essential oils "cure" and all it did was cause a skin condition on that area. Does anyone know why silica would work in this case?
