Well-

Almost funny..After years of great sex and chemistry, my husband started taking serious pain medications. I noticed the lowered libido almost immediately.

Now it is at least 5 years later and with a complete hysterectomy I am experience vaginal atrophy. I am on estrogen and vagifem--but

this is the vent--

intercourse is unbelievably painful.. And, lack of use has made it worse.
And now, I really don't care. I had charted that we were having sex about twice a year from 3-4 times a week in our 40's and now 50's.

Oh well.

And here is the worse vent- I can do it better by myself, so my libido isn't all that low. If I find a young guy who like oral sex- which my husband does not, I am inclined to go for it.

Word to men who don't pay attention--someone else will.

  • I think that the hardest part of this problem is the emotional side. I really miss the closeness that I felt after intercourse. Oral just isn't as mutually satisfying for me on an emotional level. I found that bioidentical estriol suppositories worked like a charm for me. But it flared my chronic candida.Judy

JudyJudy I have a question. I have terrible lack of estrogen in the vaginal area. naturally I am menopausal. I started out with estrace cream and did well and then all of a sudden it stared burning me terrible. then I stopped and my compounding pharmacist tried a couple of other compounds and they did the same thing to me. he is now making me one with a ky jelly base. I am really worried as I am in a lot of pain down there. and the estrogen really helps. they have said that i must be sensitive to something in the creams. today I put on a anti fungal to see if I respond to that. it still burns down there. it felt some better at first. I did read somewhere that estrogen can cause yeast and fungus to grow like crazy. I am going to have my estrogen levels checked too. I hear ya about the sex. I am lucky I have a loving husband but ya know with age he hasn't always been able to have intercourse. And I read that if us girls don't have intercourse regularly it messes up our vaginas and they don't stay as healthy as they should. I love oral sex, but our men don't realize that we women need the closeness of intercourse also. It makes us feel wanted and loved. Oral sex can be so cold and robotic. Men don't think the way we do. They really don't. My husband feels just as loved and wanted if all he has is oral sex. But he will say he knows what I mean about intercourse too. We just have different ways of looking at things. Sex is painful for me now until I can get this vaginitis thing straightened out. I just hate it and I am very worried about it. Dr's can be so cold and uncaring. I have been in pain since June. Menopause and lack of estrogen made my uterus and bladder fall and I had to have a hysterectomy and bladder suspension and vaginal vault repair in august so I am still recovering from that. Menopause is not fun. So I know just where you are coming from. while a younger man might be nice, I don't think I could keep up with one right now LOL I do hope you get things straigthened out soon. jan
