Vaginal Problem

My vagina has been itching for a while...I also noticed tiny pimple looking bumps on the outer labia. I sheduled an appointment to get a pap smear. The nurse midwife said they might be warts and said not to worry about them that they'd probably go away on their own. But of course I can't just ignore my problem and I'm hesitant to get intimate with my new boyfriend because I don't want to give him anything if this is contageous (how embarassing). It's been a week since my pap and I have not received any news about any abnormalities.
I tried putting tea tree oil on the bumps but it just brought on irritation. I don't know what else to do.
