Vaginal itching - Is it an allergy?

I've recently started having sex and noticed my vulva, and slightly inside my vagina, has been itchy lately. I have a few family members that are allergic to latex, and wonder if that could be the cause of it. Could it also be the spermicide on the latex condom?

I also have very mild burning when I pee, and a frequent need to urinate. I believe it's a urinary tract infection, since I was prone to them when I was younger, but could it be related to the vaginal itching as well?

  • spermacides alone can cause a bladder infection; you better get a complete STD screening and treatment for the infection. Condoms aren't necessarily 100% protective of STDs, especially viruses--but yes, maybe that is all it is. You may find that bacteria is being pushed into your urethral opening due to the way you are built. That's life, or, a sex-life.
