Is vaginal dryness mainly caused by early menopause? And if so, how can I go through early menopause if I am pregnant?

  • It can occur during pregnancy or following childbirth also. Reduced levels of estrogen can also be caused by nursing, menstrual cycle changes, contraceptives, infertility drugs, hysterectomy or related surgeries, fatigue, stress and exercise. There are also other outside factors that can cause dryness, such as tampons, drugs and soaps and baths. Perhaps check with your OBGYN and ask about personal lubricants.

  • I know vaginal dryness is treatable but is it curable? Is there something that i can do about it other than using lubricants while I'm pregnant? My vaginal dryness started about 1 year ago so I'm sure the pregnancy hasn't caused it. PS. Thanks so much for replying.... I am really desperate to find a solution because I don't want this to affect my marriage.

  • I think that would depend on what the cause is, so I don't have an answer. I would talk to your doctor about possible causes. They can help rule out hormonal problems too. Try changing soap, perhaps the soap you use is too drying for you, and don't take baths. A personal lubricant is a quick fix for now. And I surely hope your husband would be a little understanding in this matter. There are a lot of things that can happen in a marriage and I would hope he would stand by you in times of imperfection. I wish I could help more, but the Internet can only offer so much advice. Good luck.

  • Sjogrens syndrome can cause vaginal dryness as can other endocrine disorders. It does not mean you are in menopause. Kiera

  • I use Estring 2mg from my doctor. It's inserted for 3 months or you can use estriol cream to give added estrogen. The best lubricant is SLYK because it is ph balanced (4.5), made from Kiwi fruit.

  • I started using Ladybalance to get off my fishy smelling discharge. This has worked well, and in addition I experience more vaginal humidity, which has a good effect on my sexual relationship. Jennie
