periods on and off?

Hello there,

I've been in the past year or so been having periods irregularly. I've had a pap smear last year that said everything was fine. But I may go one month, skip a month and have my period again. I may have it in two months and then have another spell where it will skip a month again, and won't come until the month after.

I know that stress and being sick can throw it off, but after a year or more of this, can it eventually tear/damage your body's menstual cycle up, plus more?

I've also been under quite a lot of stress here lately where I don't have a job, and have been trying to find one for about a year now, and where I live, there's Too Many people and Not enough businesses in the area. Where the location is an Appalachian area, hardly any businesses can thrive in the lower part of Ohio. So my major crisis at the moment is that I can't get a job, to get the money to move, in an area where jobs are a little more abundant. Any help will be appreciated.

  • Sometimes stress can cause your menstrual cycles to be off, but I don't know if it would vary that much. You could have some sorta hormonal imbalance. I would suggest going to a doctor to have some labs ran. Paps certainly do not notify you if you have hormonal issues. Best of luck!

  • It is quite possible that you have hormonal problems. Do you have weight problems or diabetes or problems with thyroid gland. Any of these conditions would influence your period and make it irregular.
