Pelvic Physical Therapy?-painful intercourse

I haven't had intercourse for 7 months because it is too painful. My husband cannot even come close to penetrating me. I've gone to 2 doctors and the last one recommended that I go to physical therapy. He's convinced that my issue is muscular related. In other words, I have to relearn how to relax my pelvic and vaginal muscles.

I was and still remain very skeptical. I had the first visit today and we talked about exercises that can be done; sort of like kegel exercises. When our pelvic muscles, and the muscles surrounding our vagina and anus are overactive and not consistent in terms of contracting and relaxing, then it has an overall effect on the muscles, the nerves, the blood flow, and oxygen. I know it sounds crazy and doesn't make very much sense, but...It isn't guaranteed to work and this may not be the answer.

Has anyone else gone to physical therapy?
Thanks,
sadbetty

  • Maybe you need surgery for something...but, I would run extensive hormonal tests on you, along with a full STD screening and pap..The treatment sounds a little goofy...
