  • They like to do that. You should try acupuncture, at least 3 treatments..if that doesn't work, you may need further testing, but yes, they normally give birth control pills for anything related to periods.

  • BC pills are often given to control heavy and/or irregular periods. Nothing to be worried about. However if you haven't had heavy periods since you started menstruating and are having any other symptoms of any kind, then you should bring this up with your doctor. Some diseases can cause heavy periods as well. Kiera

Yes, please try acupuncture and Chinese medicinals - find a good qualified acupuncturist in your area by visiting www.acufinder.com or www.nccaom.org. Traditional Chinese Medicine has been successfully treating women's disorders for thousands of years...very very helpful! Of course, if you continue to have severe pain and severe bleeding you should get some tests to rule out endo, fibroids, cysts, etc....Traditional Chinese Medcine is a wonderful ADJUNCT treatment, and works very well with allopathic medicine and testing. Best wishesDOM

Heavy and painful periods can sometimes be a symptom of Endometriosis. (which I am yet to be diagnosed with) Doctors will give you BC if you have a complaint about your periods, as the Pill helps to regulate them, and make them lighter. It doesn't always work, though. If you are really worried about your periods, start by keeping a 'diary' of the date you get your period, the date you finish, how heavy it is etc, and take it to your doctor. It's worth keeping an eye on.

  • Hormones really mess with stuff like this. There is a doctor who actually tests for all of the hormone levels and then creates a formula from the results. You need to find a doctor like that. The one I know is in California.
