I had already posted about my fear of intrusive exams. i finally got up the nerve, and I have my annual appointment tomorrow. I haven't had a PAP in about 6 years, so maybe I am missing something- I noticed a nurse is going to perform my PAP. What the ***l is that all about? I wish I had noticed earlier because I want a doctor. I know it is too inconvenient to cancel now, but I want to cry. My anxiety is coming right back.

How is a nurse doing this? If I need any medicine can she give it to me or do I have to make a whole new appointment to discuss my problems and talk to the doctor. I don't want to wait another month because I have to mentally prepare again.

  • Well never mind. Everything is OK, and the nurse was fine. Apparently it is common for the exams to be performed by an RN. The only problem was that she dropped my tube and slides and had to perform the PAP all over again  Now I don't have to go throught that for another 12 years since I got 2 today.
