Hi. This is a bit odd but I'm getting frustrated. When I was fourteen I developed a sore on my labia minora. It never itched, it just hurt when I moved. I had a high fever and was sick for about four days. My mother took me to her doctor that told me it was shingles. When I was sixteen, I developed the same sore but had my doctor treat it. She had told me it could possibly be shingles or herpees. But I just found out today that the culture she took was actually inconclusive. I am now almost eighteen, and that little sore has come back. I called my doctor, but of course she's out of town and I have yet again a different doctor treating it. I go in today and he says he's not really familiar with gynocology... but he thinks I have herpees, not shingles. But I should check it out with a gynocologist to make sure because he's unsure. Great!

So heres the fun part, I have never had sex. I have never had anyone touch, lick, kiss, suck, nibble or probe my vaginal area. Not once. I have never done any of those things to anyone elses genitalia either. Here I am one of the very few virgins I know, and they want to tell me I have genital herpees. Now I've heard that there are rare cases of people contracting genital herpees who have never had sexual interaction. But if there are other things this little sore could be I'd love to know, because I don't want to be the virgin that had an immaculate contraction.

Thanks.

  • Shingles are a form of chicken pox, and both are part of the herpes family of viruses. Those stories about toilet seat herpes are myth- you can get crabs from seats, but not herpes. That is what teenagers tell their parents when they come home with herpes and don't want to get in trouble. Keep bugging the Dr, because I would not accept a diagnosis that is ***n near impossible.

  • You can also get herpes from your parents. If your mother was infected and she passed to you at birth- you can have herpes. One way or another keep trying to find out.Do not discard underwear/ sanitary napkin allergies.Whether or not you have or had shingles, it sounds like you have a weak immune system and you certainly want to work on ways to improve it.Please don't feel sad. Even if you had sex, there is nothing to be ashamed of. Everyone is distressed and embarrassed about those conditions. The fact that is a private part should not make you feel worse than if you had something growing on your foot soles.Take Care.A 30 year old woman.
