Does anyone have this happen, or know why this is happening?
This summer over and over again, whenever the sun is hot and a bright, and it hits my eyes, they become extrememly heavy and close.
I have to fight with my eye lids to keep them open. What in the world is causing this. If I put ice on them, they'll open, and that will help, but I have no idea why this is happening. I'm afraid to drive as I'm afraid it'll happen while I'm behind the wheel.
It's driving me crazy, It's as though my lids have a mind of their own, and close, and I have no say in it.
Please help.
I need advice on this, any suggestiong would be much appreciated.

  • can be a vitamin "A" deficiency. Thats where the talk of carrots being good for eyesight originates.

  • Thank you for your response. It hasn't happen in a couple of weeks now. But then again, the weather has been cool, and no bright sun. It's rather scary when it does happen.

  • Hello,This happens to me too. I suffer from a sleep disorder also. I told my sleep doctor that when I go outside my eyes get sleepy and heavy. I do not know how else to explain it. I thought it was because I am always so tired. But it will happen when I am rested also. He said the sun is a natural waker-upper. He didn't know why that happens.

  • hey not really sure what to put, i have had experience with my eyes closing when iam out. sometimes noticed it when iam tired but mostly when iam speaking to people and iam conscious of it. but it may be diet and lack of vitamin a as i dont really get it now. a couple of years ago i was really bad. i remember speaking to people on the bus and thinking i might have to speak to them with my eyes closed. the things that is different about me now is that my allergies is not as bad and i eat a bit better in terms of more veg. i also started getting it when i got hayfever in the summer years ago and antihistamine made it better
