Stinging Eyes

For several months I have noticed that when I go outside after work I get this stinging sensation in both eyes and my eyes start to tear. This also happens at work during the day when I have been working on my computer and look away. It is very painful for the time it lasts and is embarassing when someone walks into my office and I am suddenly tearing up. I have to explain to them why . Is this just eye strain or something more serious? Has anyone else had this problem and how can I stop from having this reaction? Thanks

  • you are describing "reflex tearing", which occurs when the eyes are irritated. from your post, it would seem that they are drying out and using tear drops before the problem occurs might be helpful. obviously, by the time they start watering it's too late.

  • Thanks I'll try that out and see if it helps.

  • I have this too. I also have noticed within the last month what looks like a very faint line floater(but isn't) in my field of vision(both eyes) when I move my eyes side to side really fast while looking at a blank background or on a dull day. Anyone else experience symptoms like those?
