i have had sore veins in my eyes for 6 years now i am 20 years old and have wasted 6 years of my life as i hate my eyes they are filled with veins to me they look vile i hate going anywhere and for 1 year i refused to go out in sun light

i have tried every thing that is available in australia i have used Genteal eye gel,Celluvisc, thera tears liquid gel, poly visc eye ointment just to name a few
i am using Zaditen to try and cure my veins but in 3 months i have seen no improvement its killing me to think all i want is the whites of my eyes to be clear and everything i try just NEVER WORKS i was told my eyes are making to much antihistamine and that Zaditen would help but it hasn't

i was told i have allergies but in everyday life its hard to avoid dust and pollens ect i have never been tested for dry eyes maybe that's what i have my eyes fell really sore and when i blink i feel like i have no lubrication so maybe i should just give up i'm losing the battle i just want to curl up in a ball and never wake up i have no friends nor a boyfriend its had a huge impact on my life so much so i am on anti depressants
if anyone has any advice as a last ditch effort i would appreciate it

  • Hi,I know how you feel. I have the same thing. Red veins in my eyes. I used a gel and that is what caused it. Have you been to a ocular surface specialist? Maybe you have ocular rosacea or something else or did you use contact lenses before? There is a few doctor saying there could be a cure for this thing soon because there is somthing the doctors use now for AMD and CNV that makes the veins go away. it is called anti vegf therapy. look that up! The company that is making this is Genentech (USA)Novartis and Roche (Europe) and maybe others i do not know. Maybe if people called or emaild the companys they would know that there are a lot of people suffering and there would be a cure sooner. You live in Australia? Novartis is in Australia aswell i think? if not than there is another company that is making this. Also there is 2 doctors in the world doing this eyewhitening procedure but i do not know how safe that is. I would rather have an eyedrop or injection in my eye than have a surgery. Also if you have a surgery and you do not know why you had the veins in the first place they could come back. The anti depressants could make you eyes dry (a little anyway). I think you should drink a lot of water so you do not make your eyes worse. Do you feel that your eyes look worse anytime? like in the morning? or when you go out or anything?Do not give up! There could be a cure soon you never know when.

  • Ocular rosacea will sometimes cause the symptoms you describe. Get someone to prescribe tetracycline or doxycycline or minocycline for a month and see what happens......

I found a doc that treats this! you may want to look at the site www.boxerwachler.com/whiteeyes. this looks like it works.

You have so much to look forward to, don't let those little veins beat you, you are better than them. Tell them to clear off and leave you alone.I too have red veins, but they don't bother me. They look like a road map. Take care

  • Ava Grace, I definitely understand. I've had this same problem for many years now. I am 32 and the red lines of death have messed with my head since my early 20's. It is really hard to overcome and just go on with our lives. People who don't have this problem don't understand. If someone told me I had to put a taser to my testicles 235 times and my eyes would be white as the clouds.....I would do it. If I had just one single wish from a mystical genie of the lamp, I would ask for................infinite wishes...Then, I would wish to be free of this ocular prison. I wrote in another post that maybe we should all go get those marilyn manson white-out contacts. Don't know. Keep your head up kid. It could be way, way worse. You could be an AIDS patient or be paralyzed from the neck down. What counts is what is on the inside. You are still beautiful and one of a kind. Be strong young grasshoppa.

Its really good, you are not alone as there are heaps of people working through this together - I have had acute redness for over 10years and treated it with everything you can think of, simply nothing works!!. Now, after much research and many trips to opthamologists I have decided to get eye whitening done by Dr Kim in Korea. Do your own reasearch and make you own choices, above suits my situation.:)

I totally understand. Mine started almost 2 yrs ago. I'm in my ealry 40's and my left eye was messed up by an dumb roommate that sprayed Spray & Wash in my eye-I did not wash it out, because it was not labeled & did not burn. ANyway, I was so cautious with that eye. However, when we moved 2 yrs ago, somehow really old eyedrops made it in my eye, caused an infection. Now it looks much worse then my right eye. Sometimes I think I need an eye patch. My Dad was dying of cancer, I was in the ER for a panic attack, then anti-depressants & hospitalized 2 months later, because the Paxil almost killed me. I has been the worse 2 years of my life. I hope to improve, but when my eye is really red, all those feelings rush me like a tidal wave. I will keep you in my prayers. I know what you are going through. I have lost my confidence and joy in life. It totally sucks.

  • I've found some really great solutions over the past couple of years. Many of the solutions I've found were by reading the forums. Here are my best solution: Pataday upon waking (prescription from doctor)Refresh PM ointment prior to bed, line inside lower eyelidNaphcon-A 2-3x's a week before attending special event6000mg Flaxseed Oil daily (Barleans with Lignan works best for me)Warm Compresses every other day 3 minutes and massage base of eyelids for 1 minuteDoxicycline 1x a year for 60 day course (prescription from doctor)This had about a 40% improvement in appearance of red eyes.About 4 months ago I went for the ultimate solution with Dr. Brian Boxer Wachler in Los Angeles, CA. He performs a procedure call I-BRITE Eye Whitening. I was skeptical and unsure. It was a huge investment $8900. However, it gave me about 90% improvement in my eyes. The way I looked at it was that I spent $6000 on LASIK a few years ago. This procedure is takes about 3x's longer than LASIK. So given it was a surgical procedure and it took longer than LASIK the value to me could have been $18,000 - but I only paid $8900. It was the best decision ever. There is another doctor that I could have seen in another country and spent about half - but to me I wanted to trust my eyes to the best. In all my research Dr. Brian Boxer Wachler seemed to be extremly well respected. He was a former director at UCLA Jules Stein Institute - this is one of the top eye research hospitals in the country. He has performed surgeon on several well respected people - Dr. Phil, Seal, Lucy Liu, etc. To me I thought what else am I going to appreciate every waking moment - my eyes. The procedure took about 3 months to fully heal. I had the procedure on a Tues and returned to work 12 days later. My eyes felt like when I had a upper eye lid lift, very heavy and achy and light sensitive for about a month. The office was extremly helpful and caring. Anyway, I hope my experience helps any of you - I know for me all the helpful hints on these boards helped me finally find a solution.

On this thread: http://forums.wrongdiagnosis.com/showthread.php?p=245693#post245693 - there is much discussion about the procedure you had done and many people post their before and after photos. Some have gone with your doctor and some have gone with Dr. Kim in Korea. From what I can tell, it sounds like Dr. BW actually learned the procedure from Dr. Kim. Dr. Kim has done 14,000 of the surgeries. I asked people on that forum how many Dr. BW had done, but nobody replied. I also asked them if any were in that video on Dr. BW's website that show the before and after eye pictures, but nobody responded. By any chance, were you in that video on his website, and if so, which one were you? I actually went to that LA doctor for a consultation about my red eyes last December and he told me that I'd need to resolve my dry eye situation 1st. He then charged me $400 to install permanent tear duct plugs, which I've heard since, was a completely outrageous price. It did not help my dry eyes either. I've tried the flaxseed oil, borage oil, salmon oil, warm compresses, eye wash, preservative-free artificial tears, and nothing resolves the extreme dryness that is actually quite painful when I first wake up every morning. I told Dr. Kim about this dryness issue and he had the opposite response and told me that this procedure was my only cure for dry eyes. Supposedly when the conjunctivis grows back, it has more moisture cells in it. Dr. Kim posted images of a dry one before the procedure and then after the procedure, one that shows the new moisture cells. You have a lot of good tips though that I'm going to check out. Thanks for posting and come over to the more popular thread and show us your pictures. Everyone over there is always looking for people like you who have had it done! Thank you

Just wanted to tell you about this thread:http://forums.wrongdiagnosis.com/showthread.php?p=245693#post245693 - I posted it above, but just incase you didn't see it in my other reply. Anyway, I completely understand and so do tons of other people in your situation. There is a cure - sort of. It's got an 85% success rate, so not completely perfect and it's risky. There's a dr. in LA that does it and he calls it I-Brite. The Dr. in Korea calls it Cosmetic Eye Whitening. It's expensive too, but the only cure I've heard of so far. Visine is not a cure. I used to use it, but after about 5 hours, my eyes looked twice as red as on days that I didn't use it at all and I was constantly having people ask me if I had a hard week or hard day at work and it was really really depressing, just like you say. I don't connect with people or have any friends or even dating life at all because I'm too embarrassed to look people in the eye when they speak to me. It's no way to live, believe me, I understand you!! I'm seriously considering taking the risk to go to Korea and have them fixed. It's a scary decision though - risk my eyes or live like this forever...

I am a 52 year-old female, and I can say that my life would have been different if I didn't have this problem. I have avoided so many social situations and avoided eye contact with men who showed an interest in me ( I look ok from a distance - lol). I wish I could say there was a cure, but I have tried myriad solutions. I do find that flaxseed oil and acidopholis as well as b complex have helped my eyes somewhat. Getting off the vasoconstrictors definitely helped, as I overused these for years, and these drops made the problem worse. It helps to know that we are not alone with this problem. I always thought I was the only person on earth with this, until the internet was born.

  • I got a big problem with my right , my right eye is very light and it looks to the right side , I can not control my right eye. I'm always sad and while walking I turn my head down so that nobody can see my eye. No body likes me , I don't have friends , everyone looks at me like I'm crazy . When people see me starts making fun of me.When I'm alone I try to talk to my brothers and sister , they turn their back to me. When I look at my mom , she begins fussing at me and telling me to turn my eyes away. No body feels me , no body care about me either if I'm sick.Always at night while everyone is sleeping i can not sleep while I'm crying and thinking every day if there is any chance to be butter and my get out from this life .
