slight loss of peripheral vision

The last couple weeks I've been noticing a slight loss of vision out of the right side of my left eye.

There is a thin band of about 3" (when you hold your fingers out in front of you at full arms length and do that finger wiggle side to side thing..) waaay on the far right of my left eye that I can't see anything in. As my fingers come into view from the right, they disappear for those 3" or so and then come back into view.

I have been wearing contacts for the last 15 years or so, and my vision hasn't really changed much in the last 5.. I'm obviously worried but I currently do not have vision insurance. Stupid reasoning, I know.

It seems to get worse or just more obvious through the day. I wore my glasses for the last two days to see if it was something from them and it didn't improve. Although it also doesn't seem to be getting worse.

Any ideas?

  • I hope you see this. You need to see an opthamologist. This is not a vision insurance thing, it's a medical insurance thing. I started having flashers in my eyes a year and a half ago and a year ago I noticed a spot in my peripheral vison were I couldn't see anything. Like you my fingers weould disappear then appear again. Since I first saw the spot it has gotten larger and spread and I now also have a spot in my right eye. After numerous trips to the opthomologist a neurologist and now a neuro-opthamologist I am hoping to be close to a diagnosis. After a year and a half. Anyway it's all been through my medical insurance not my vision insurance.
