A few days ago I noticed a slight tenderness to my eye. I noticed that it was gettting worse the more I played my Nintendo DS. I thought my focusing on the screen was not a good idea and I stopped playing for the night. I wear contacts and I left them in overnight since they are 30 day all-day wear ones. I thought my eyes were mainly hurting because I was simply tired. (My eyes strained as if I was tired) The next day the pain really began. My eye was still tender and sensitive to light. I started to get a runny nose and I had tears discharging if my eye was exposed to the air. I put a makeshift eyepatch on and the tearing stopped but the runny nose continued. The pain now exists when I try and move my right eye. It's very painful and I do not have health insurance. I am not sure where to go or what to do. I leave for a military deployment in 2 weeks and I really want to make it.

Eye pain magnified when playing Nintendo DS (handheld video game)
Stopped playing game, thought pain in eye was from being tired
Slept overnight with contacts (30 day, all-day wear)
Next day eyes suffered from sensitivity to light, redness, tenderness/swelling, discharge of tears, runny nose
Fashioned eyepatch, pain less when eyepatch on
Pain at maximum when attempting to move right eye
No health insurance
Pain is escalating...what to do?

Please help as I am not sure how much longer I can take this. Thank you!

  • Hi, you're about to deploy...hope your eye is better. Certainly don't wear your contacts for a while; you won't be able to wear them in country, be sure you have glasses. Be sure and take preservative free tear drops, incase your eye is still sensitive. I'm sure you have seen an eye doc by now. Let us know how you're doing. Marionstar
