I have been diagnosed as having Sarcoidosis. In addition I have developed a dry cough in the past year and suspect this is related to Sarcoids. However,
I cannot seem to get rid of the dry cough as I cough quite often. Has anyone
any suggestion(s) on how I may possibly rid myself of this cough. Thank you.

Patrick

  • Patrick,My husband has fever of unknown origin and may have sarcoid. The pulmonologist didn't think so based on his CT Scan of lungs. How were you diagnosed? We are baffled by his illness. He is 35, a non-smoker and has been sick since May 4. We have a 1 and 4 year old and it is a sad situation. What type of cough do you have? My husbands is caused by an irritation in his throat it seems.-Andrea

  • I was diagnosed 3 yrs ago. I was a smoker atthat time, quit over a yr ago. But I had a cough off and on for yrs. Around the time I was diagnosed I would all day long and lost sleep because I couldn't stop. I sucked on different types of cough drops and used a spray for the back of my throat. But oddly enough putting an icepack on the back of my neck when I was sitting in my recliner and while in bed seemed to help. Maybe the coldness restricted something in my throat, I have no idea. But it worked. I haven't have coughing attacks like that in over a yr. But on two different occasions I completely lost my voice for over a week. The doctors have no idea why.Good luck! My suggestion about this disorder is to research it as much as possible. My doctor put me on Prednisone. I took it for 3 wks and stopped. I haven't taken it since. A year later he did more xrays and my lungs are completely clear. I still have sarcoidosis in my skin and lymph nodes but not so severe. I am scared of taking steroids.

He originally was having a problem with bruising which led to x-rays and all kinds of tests. The chest x-ray showed enlarged lymph nodes in his chest and they did a biopsy of a lymph node in his neck. My husband also is a non-smoker, age 47. He had a cough for many years and always was clearing his throat. He always felt like there was something in the back of his throat. He does not cough or clear his throat like he used to. He ultimated had his spleen removed to cure the bruising problem and was placed on prednisone. For several years he was on and off prednisone as the disease kicked in and then went dormant. He is now on different medication as he has chronic sarcoidosis. Sue
