  • just would like to know if my prescription is over +5 is there any chance that i will have a retinal detachment...is the risk minimal or not at all???Hmm retinal detachment has nothing to do with prescription that I am aware of. My mother had a retinal detachment- She is totally blind on that eye.Retinal detachment happens to boxers or other athletes how get impacted on the face (eyes) and to victims of car accidents ( like my Mom). Sometimes the detachment is a rare side effect on procedures of reconstruction of the eye and/or transplants of some of the eye membranes (my Mom). When this adverse complication takes place, the patient loses its vision completely. My mom used to see "shadows in the darkness" and "sparks" in that eye.Now- if your vision is bad and it keeps degenerating exponentially, you are probably having absorption problems, or you are not getting the right nutrients. Then anything is possible. You could fall victim to any degenerative disease.I personally have really bad vision- and until recently I found out thatit can be treated with real nutrition and real vitamin supplements. There is even "Yoga for the Eyes". The food I have been eating for the last 10 years looked pretty healthy- but it was empty of nutrients.Inventory your nutritional intake and perhaps try to find out about the Yoga for Eyes.Best.

  • Retinal detachment CAN be related to your degree of near-sightedness. The more near-sighted, the more chance that the vitreous can shrink and pull on the retina, causing it to tear and leading to possible retinal detachment.
