Permanent bloodshot eye(s)

When I was around 14 one of my contact lenses ripped apart while I was wearing it and a piece was lodged in the corner of my eye. Ever since then my right eye has been severely blood shot, you can see several blood vessels, etc. My left eye is kind of bloodshot but not nearly as bad as my right eye. I've seen a couple of eye doctors but they really haven't had any advice or solution other than to use eye drops etc. It hasn't helped.

I still wear contact lenses since I don't really have any discomfort wearing them, but I am 30 now and this (cosmetic) problem has never gone away. Is there some kind of surgery I should have?
