Hello friends (internet angels), my name is Barry and I really need your help.

I'm a healthy 41 year old male. About 3 months ago I was diagnosed with ocular herpes (had burning in right eye). My eye doctor was in the process of selling her practice, so when I went in to see her, I was examined by a very young "fill-in". She said, "I just see a bunch of little dots on your eye", and blamed it on a "possible" injury. She prescribed me combo antibiotic / steroid drops, and the burning stopped almost immediately...felt better. Well.......about a week later BOY did it come back with a vengeance! (Come to find out that steroid drops + ocular herpes is a BIG NO NO!) Saw a new eye doctor who sent me to a cornea specialist...and BAM...eye herpes (I call it Eyepees). Said it was very superficial (although centrally located)

Specialist prescribed Acyclovir (500mg 5x day) & moisture drops. One week later...additional outbreaks, same eye, new location. Still on cornea, still only superficial (top most layer).

Specialist said, "hmmm..new outbreaks WHILE on an anti-viral???" Sent me to M.D. for full blood work-up. 7 vials of blood later, I am totally clean, not Immunocompromised in any way, shape or form.

Next tried Famvir - 500mg 2x day. 2 weeks later, still spreading, but slowly.

Next tried anti-viral eye drops with the famvir. Eye drops went "toxic", vision got really bad after about 4 days. Saw Doc, stopped drops, back to only famvir, but now 3x day.

2 weeks later...still spreading, new location (nasal side of cornea), burning started again, and Doc said it was going a little deeper into my cornea....UGH!

Started Valtrex 500mg 3x day & moisture drops. NOW HERE'S THE KICKER...

After about 3-4 days on the Valtrex my vision started improving; BOY was I HAPPY! Then around the 5th-6th day on the Valtrex...started going blurry again. Then got a little better for a couple of days, and as of yesterday and today (Friday after turkey-day) it's gotten MUCH worse....blurry blurry blurry.

I'm so frustrated :( Can't help feeling helpless. My doctors see it's not going away...isn't there anything else? Take more Valtrex? Is there a SUPER specialist that specializes in ocular herpes? I know my body so well, and I know I am at that point where it can still be helped, that my vision can be saved, but am afraid that in a short time I will have so much scarring that it wont even matter....my eye clock is ticking! PLEASE HELP ME!

If you took the time to read this, I thank you from the bottom of my soul (and cornea).
