  • I have been battling outbreaks myself for the past 9 months. The good news is that my only symptom is blurry vision in that eye (worse in the morning of course). I feel sorry for the people who have to deal with the pain and light sensitivity as well. The more research I do the more it seems there is nothing you can really do other than treat each outbreak. It is very frustrating. So I don't have any advise for you, but at least have an idea of what you are going through.

  • I was just diagnosed with ocular herpes this past week and am still getting over my initial outbreak. The redness is gone, but it still feels like there is something in my eye. How long does it normally take to clear up? It seems to bother me more at night than anything else. My doctor also put me on Valtrex, but I think it's giving me really bad headaches...has this happened to anyone else? Do these stop eventually? Ibuprofen doesn't seem to help it at all.

  • I was diagnosed in November and had a second outbreak in December. I think I may be getting it again but I'm not sure. Can anyone tell me how they know when an outbreak is about to start. That way I can start on the Valtrex and possibly it won't be as bad. Thanks.

  • Ask your Dr. about Viroptic. It has worked well for me. It has come back each time I've been taken off of it, but it works wonders. I don't believe you can remain on this full time due to it's occular toxicity, but it will get you out of trouble.I've been having problems since April. I know it's coming on when I wake up at 3am with a burning tearing eye. I usually put one drop of viroptic in immediately, and one when I wake up. Then continue 5x/day for a week. This stuff has really helped me out.
