Hi, I have just a quick question. I think I may possibly have eye strain due to a bright light that sits to the side of my computer screen and causes glare. Lately, I've had trouble with my vision including my eyes being tired and seeing double vision half the time when I look at lights or high contrast colors on a dark background. I've had these symptoms for about a month and a half now and I think I'm going to move the light today to see if my vision improves... My question is can eye strain last for over a month and can it cause any permanent damage to the eye? Thanks in advance!

  • Eye strain can last as long as the environment you are in allows it to. I would suggest moving the bright light as that is likely the cause. If you spend a lot of time on your computer, it is important to take a break every 20 minutes or so to avoid straining the eyes. Glare on your computer screen can also be a cause of eye strain. I don't believe that eye strain can cause any permanent damage, but it would be a good idea to talk to your eye doctor about it regardless. Here is a link that may help: http://www.ergoware.com/blog/12-things-you-should-know-about-eye-strainLyndsay, Health Advisor
