I can see the halo around the streetlights in the night, however, two doctors already convinced me that this cannot be glaucoma. They examined the eyes, the eye pressure is ca. 13-15 mm Hg and they say that the eyes look fine. Does anyone has some idea as to why I see this halo? The doctors do not have. Thanks a lot. Pawel

  • Your pressure is on a normal level. If you had glaucoma then your pressure would accelerate from 15mmhg to 60mmhg and you would experience pain and a reduction in vision. Have you noticed a sudden change in the way streetlights look compared to how it may have been before? Haloes are due to diffraction at the crystalline lens and are a normal thing, (even i can see a glow around a streetlight!) but yes in some cases can hint glaucoma, yet your pressure is normal and hopefully you arent experiencing pain so that is ruled out!!Hope this helps!

  • Have you noticed a sudden change in the way streetlights look compared to how it may have been before? Thanks for the reply. Yes, for the first time I noticed the halo effect in November 2006. Before I did not see it, at all. Generally speaking I feel a constant tension/pain in my eyes and nobody knows where it comes from. It feels like fatigue and it is getting constantly worse. I wear glasses but they only orrect my vision in the short run. When I go to the doctor I can read clearly the letters from the Snellen Chart but I cannot read it clearly for a long time! Now I can read only for ca 10 minutes in god light and I have to take a rest as the eyes get exhausted. Then I feel sort of pain but the eyes are not "blooded". I noticed that the halo occurrence is related to this eye "weakening". The eyes did not get tired so fast - I could not see any halo. Now they get tired very fast and I can see it. The more tired I am the more pronounced it seems to be. I had a look at list of eye problems that people have and I noticed that rings around the streetlights are frequently linked to glaukoma. Thit is where my fear comes from.
