Hi folks, thanks for any help in advance...

I'm 23, caucasian, female, no chronic health issues aside from mild allergies, but otherwise very healthy.

I've been wearing glasses for about a year and a half.

Friday, developed a haze in my right eye. It's like looking through a very subtle fog, and my eye feels "tired", like I was crying all night is the only way I know how to describe it.

First day I questioned if I was even seeing anything.

I'm prone to migraines, I get one a year usually. It wasn't like a typical migraine aura, but on day 2 that's what I was suspecting. My migraine auras are usually everything looks more intense and light halos. No migraine turned up.

Got concerned, only symptoms that matched were glaucoma or a retinal tear. Went to get my eyes checked, told the lady very specifically my symptoms. She did a very thorough exam, couldn't find anything wrong, but gave me a referral to a specialist anyway and told me to go if it's not normal by the end of the holiday weekend. She also gave me a script significantly stronger than my old script. The new script helped ever so slightly but there's still a fog in my field of vision. My old script was -.75 OD -.50 OS. New script is -1.75OD -1.25 OS.

Any ideas?

  • Update since it took 2 days for that thread to post for whatever reason... I'm now very close to completely blind in my right eye. I can only vaugely see silhouettes of large objects and only if there is high contrast (black monitor frame against a white wall) Still too early to make an appointment with the ophthalmologist, but will be making one today come ***l or high water..

  • Ophthalmologist is sending me to a neuro-ophthalmologist for further diagnosis. Have a general diagnosis of optic neuritis right now. Didn't like where they were going with the MS questions they were drilling down ... luckily no other symptoms of MS to report (yet). Hopefully they'll be able to figure out what the problem is at the neuro... It's so hard to answer yes or no to the numbness/tingling questions because I was in a car accident that the soft tissue damage irritates the nerve roots to my right arm./sighMore questions than answers so far.

  • They also offered to put me on a steriod drip for 3 days. He says it might help my vision come back a week sooner at most, and would help with the pain. It hurts pretty good right now (constantly gritting my teeth) and he says given my otherwise good health, it's reasonably low risk. It seems worth it, to me. Any comments?
