Hello all

Curious. On thursday eve i notice that one of my eyes became a bit bloodshoot looking, I got a bit panicked, splashed some cold water over it and went to sleep. In the morning it had gone, so just put it down to something irritating the eye or my eyes being a bit tired. The next day at pretty much the same time in the eve the same thing happened - not as bad as the previous day but was a bit pinky. Went to sleep, woke up today and no problem.

Further info:-
I took some antibiotics a couple of weeks ago and I noticed that my lashes were falling out and sometimes into my eyes - my eyes felt irriated so when looked in the mirror I found them in the eye - took them out and the irritation went away. As soon as I stopped the antibiotics a week or so ago the lashes stopped falling and i didnt have any irritation to the eye. Since thursday my eyes feel tired (been at home so been watching lots of tv or in front of the computer) and as i have developed an allergic rash on my face i havent been able to touch my face with anything the last few weeks besides water. This has produced some dry skin which sometimes flakes onto the eyelashes??? Could this be the cause??? I will go to the opticians on Monday if I get an appt and I see bloodshot eyes again today (my eyes feel irriated at the mo) and tmor.

Any ideas what causes pinky/redy eyes (not the whole eye) to come and go???

Thanks for any responses!

  • hi bloodshot...you can care for your bloodshot eyes by :* If bright red and swollen then apply a solution made with 1 tsf honey and fine dusting of black pepper powder just slightly lesser then 1/2 pinch. Apply this in the red eye. Let it stay there for 5 minutes then wash it thoroughly with fresh tap water. Splash water in the eyes and rinse the eye in an eye glass 4-5 times.

  • Well, around 5 years ago my family noticed this mass that appeared on the end of my eye (on the iris.. the white of the eye ie) we went to a doctor who told me it was mass which was growing and would be removed with a small operation which would take half an hour. We thought it was a small deal so we had it removed. The operation ended up lasting three hours because they thought it was just a little mass, but as they plucked and my eye realized it was more than a little. Operation was a success but my eye had to be covered as it was healing. It was purple in colours and lumpy for days because of the blood. It became normal with time, but the iris was not as white as before. After a few months the growth came back on the iris. We went to another doctor this time (one of the bests in my city) he said my operation was down very "rougly" in the sense, with a lot of use of force and not with care and that they don't know why this growth keeps coming back on my iris but it is NOT cancerous or infected so there is nothing to worry about. At night my eye goes so dry because of the growth, and it hurts to keep it open. I can't directly look in the sunlight all the time. I depend on my drops because when I don't apply it that growth on the side looks like a red tomato, and when I do apply it, it looks skin colour (something better than red!) thing is, I am pretty and I love fashion (I'm a youngster btw) and because of this eye problem I lose my confidence. I have a side fringe so I always cover my one eye because I know it's not appealing to the person watching, and if I did have my eye shown I would be asked what was up with it EVERYDAY. Does anyone know what this problem is called? Can it be cured? I wanted to have a eye transplant, because I want to have a beautiful normal eye, I want ALL my confidence back.

  • I would strongly suggest going to see a doctor ASAP as possible about this, if you do have pink eye it's highly contagious but very easy to deal with.
