With so many of us spending lots of time in front of the computer every day it comes to no surprise that research is showing a rise in visual problems. What can one do? First, it’s important to find out how you can protect your eyes through eye health exams and by making a few minor changes in your computer viewing habits for your vision correction.

Take time out, our 20-20-20 rule

Step I :-
After every 20 minutes of looking into the computer screen, turn your
head and try to look at any object placed at least 20 feet away. This
changes the focal length of your eyes, a must-do for the tired eyes.

Step II :-
Try and blink your eyes for 20 times in succession, to moisten them.

Step III :-
Time permitting of course, one should walk 20 paces after every 20 minutes of sitting in one particular posture. Helps blood circulation for the entire body.

  • I first read about the 20-20-20 rule on Lifehacker, and I’m happy to see it get passed along. I always tell friends who complain about eye conditions that persist even after rest that they need to be looked at by an eye doctor. Fellow North Carolina residents should consider the excellent Dr. Alan Carlson at the Duke Eye Center, who is one of the most highly regarded ophthalmologists in the country.

  • Adding on to what has already been mentioned, I would like to highlight a few more practices that you could find to be quite useful if you operate a computer for a long span of time during the course of the day:Cold Water -Splash cold water in your eyes frequently. This helps in relaxing your eyes.Eye rotation exercise -Rotate your eye ***** clockwise and anticlockwise in a slow motion whenever possible.Shutting Eye Lids -It is quite useful to close your eyes and keep them shut for a minute or two in between long work schedules in order to relieve them from access stress.Consume a diet enriched with vitamin C in order to nourish your eyes.

  • Also there is a computer program called F.Lux http://justgetflux.com/ f.lux fixes this: it makes the color of your computer's display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day. It's even possible that you're staying up too late because of your computer. You could use f.lux because it makes you sleep better, or you could just use it just because it makes your computer look better.

  • Nice tips!! Dark circle looks really embarrassing for computer users its normal thing but to cure with dark circle the best remedy is to don’t sit continuous in front of computers. Eyes exercises are good for that and a very simple remedy is to rub ice bags or ice cubes on your eyes at night.
