I am 31 years old. When I was 25 I had my right eye become severely and rapidly inflamed, enough so that I had a emergency trip to the ER. The Doc's said they had never seen such a sever case in someone so young. They had an emergency oncall eye Dr come in and he just gave me drops and sent me on my way. It happened again the following year and then twice a year and so on...I am now 31 and it is occurring multiple times a month and has spread to both eyes my episcleritis is VERY painful. It wakes me in my sleep, hurts to move my eyes and hurts to touch. About 2 years ago I began having so sever stomach cramping, similar to menstrual cramps only about 50 times worse and constant. After my family Dr and my OBGYN pretty much cut me open and dug around and could come up with no anwsers I had another flare up in my eye. i told my eye Dr about what else was going on and she suggested I see a Rhumatoligist. I was referred to a top-notch Rhumitoligist and she is sure my eye and stomach flare ups are related and are something that is going on with my auto-immune system. She tested me for Lopus, Rhumitoid arthuritis, fibremialgia and a handful of other things. They all came back neg. She but me on Methotrexate (a form of Chemo) to try and prevent the flare-ups til they can figure out what is causing them. She also referred me to a gastroinoligist (sp?) who ruled out Chrones and other things in my intestines. Its been a year and STILL no anwsers. I quit the Methotrexate about 6 months ago, Im not sure if it helped, I still had flare ups but they werent as painful but I dont know if that was just a coincidence or not. The past couple weeks my eyes have been out of control. Usually with a flare up I can put my steroid drops in and they will clear up in about a half hour. Recently the flare-ups have been lasting 4-5 days and are EXTREMLY painful. I went back to my eye Dr she put me on some Prednasone for 8 days, it helped a little but ive been off them for 2 days and BOTH my eyes are inflamed and my stomach is cramped up beyond control! IM AM SO FRUSTERATED! Im to the point now, I really dont care if its the worse thing in nthe world that is causing it I just want an anwser and a treatment!!! Does anyone have any suggestions for things I havent tried yet? And also, does anyone else have super painful episcleritis? ANything you do to relieve the pain? PLEASE HELP im to the point where I just want my eyes removed!!!Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
