Dry Eyes

Lately I've been experiencing blurriness and sensitivity to light in my eyes, especially the right one. I was told during my last eye exam that I have dry eyes, and I think that may be the cause of my problems. I just don't understand why the blurriness has gotten so much worse recently. Could it be that the dryness has caused an infection or scratches on my cornea (the corner of my eye and tear ducts are bright red)? I was wondering if anybody else is experiencing these sysmptoms from dry eyes, and what the best way is to alleviate the symptoms.

  • Dry eyes can lead to eye irritation and blurred vision. It can actually be damaging to your eyes. Im surprised the one who said you have dry eyes didnt recommend you anything for that. He should of given you eye drops to help keep your eyes lubricated. If you also have dryness in other places as well as the eyes.. consider Sjogren's Syndrome. One can also get light sensitivity with Sjogren's. http://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions/sjogrens-syndrome.htm

  • Dry eye condition occurs when eyes do not produce enough tears or when the tears that are produced are not of the proper quality in any of the three layers to keep the eyes lubricated and comfortable.http://www.neovisioneyecenter.com/dryeyes.htmlThe above link contains causes, symptoms, and treatment for dry eyes.

  • Try more eye drops brand, till you find the one most suited for u. I've been wearing contacts for 5 years, my eyes got dry quickly when I used monthly contacts, but after I switched to daily, my eyes don't get dry that easily. Most importantly, I can dispose them and get new ones daily :)Some of my frens have tried to switch to contacts, and they have the same problem. I usually tell them, it gets some time to get accustomed to it. If your eyes can dry after a long time like 4 hours or under windy weather conditions, it's natural for them to get dry. So keep that eyedrop bottle with u at all time.Hope this will help you!! :)
