Constricted Pupil following Cataract Surgery

I had cataract surgery 4 days ago in my left eye. My pupil is the size of a pencil lead. I cannot see out of the eye when I am inside or in dim light. I told my doctor about the problem, and he said give it time. I have talked to other people who have had the surgery, and they did not experience this problem. He dilated my eye the day after surgery during my follow-up visit, but the pupil constriced back down hours later. I feel that something is not right. My vision appears to be okay, but I cannot see in dim light. I go back to see him in 4 days, but I need to know if this condition is normal. If not, what do I need to do? Is is safe to wait 4 more days before seeing the doctor? If you had recent cataract surgery I am interested in hearing about your post-opt experiences.
Thank you.

  • Did your pupil dilate eventually? Has this persistent constriction been resolved? I'm experiencing a similar problem after getting a Visian ICL implanted. My pupil has shown no signs of dilating after 4 days. Thanks!
