Hi, new to the forums here. I'm pretty desperate so I've gone online to try to find some help. I'm 22 years old, female, and have had a chronic set of symptoms for the better part of 2 years. Hopefully this will sum up some things.

Current symptoms that gradually worsen: Fighting fatigue daily, blurred vision when looking into distance, increased sensitivity to light ( can barely open eyes in sun ), Horrid headaches that come and go with pain killer not seeming to help, corner of BOTH eyes tinged yellow ( doctors brushed this off and could not explain it, liver tests weren't elevated enough to warrant investigation by them, I guess )

Here's a brief history: Had suspected meningitis at 9 years-old, doctors never found what it was. They just assumed it was meningitis. Was in hospital for two weeks headaches/elevated fevers then discharged after many tests and antibiotics stabilized me. I recovered ok.

Flashfoward to age 21: Went to gynecologists ( thinking I had reproductive issues after abdominal pain on right side and horrid weight loss ) and bright red, inflamed appendix that was 'elongated' discovered during a laproscopy by doctors after abdominal pain persisted since age 18. Discharged after a night in the hospital with no explanation as to why it. Helped fatigue slightly.

After this, fatigue ( a feeling of barely keeping my body alive ) continued and abdominal pain. Seen by specialist for abdominal pain and yellow eyes ( he confirmed he saw the yellow in both corners of my eyes ) and it was just assumed i had gallbladder issues. They took that out, noting the gallbladder had "minimal chronic inflammation" but noted no stones or anything of the sort. Felt better for a while. Eyes are STILL yellow in corners. It is not damage from the elements.

In the now: My current symptoms are: Yellow schelra in corners of eye and below eyelid, Horrid fatigue, 15 lbs or more underweight, yellow fluid coming out of ears, ear pressure right side, eye pressure/eye pain right side, dizzyness/bad headaches that come and go, Delayed menstral cycle, Extremely cold 24/7 body temperature of 95 degrees ( I measure it due to how cold I was ) and sore breasts with an occasional white discharge.

I have tried to get an appointment with an endocrine doctor thinking that the white breast discharge was a big hint that my prolactin levels are high, but I still need help towards a step in the right direction. They will not let me see an endo without a referral, which is rubbish as I've been through enough doctors already, I wanna skip it and get right to the point.

My main question: Do you think this is a sign of a pituitary malfunction? I am at my wits end and it's ruining everything in my life, especially since I enjoy physical activity. I know a lot of you may be in the same boat. If you have any ideas, I will greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,

Natasha

Thank you, Natasha Hi Natasha, I do not have any answers about the pituitary problems but some of your problems sound like anemia. Dizziness, headache, cold body, fatigue, tinnitus can all be symptoms of anemia. I'm not sure if any of this will help but make sure somebody has checked this. Anemia can be confirmed with a CBC but not always. Sometimes a Ferritin level must be done to confirm. Ferritin levels show how much iron is being stored in your body. There are many kinds of anemia and your doctor should find out WHY you have it if this is actually your problem. Look it up. It sounds like a lot of your symptoms fit. Good luck and keep posting, Angie

  • A temperature of 95 degrees indicates a metabolic disorder. . . Surprise you have hypothyroidism. The TSH test does not tell you the entire picture, you will need to test your free T3 and free T4 to really see the problem. If you have frequent infections and yellowing of the skin eyes ect. you may have andrenal fatigue or even addisons disease.YOU MUST CHECK ALL OF YOUR THYROID LEVELS AND DO RESEARCH ON THE SUBJECT OF HYPOTHYROIDISM. IT IS UNDER-DIAGNOSED AND MISDIAGNOSED ON A REGULAR BASIS. ADRENAL FATIGUE AND HYPOTHYROIDISM ARE REAL, AND THEIR SYMPTOMS CAN BE DEBILITATING! DO NOT JUST TAKE YOUR DOCTORS WORD FOR IT IF THEY SAY YOUR BLOOD WORK IS IN THE NORMAL RANGE, BECAUSE THE NORMAL RANGE IS JUST THAT. . . . A RANGE! WHAT'S NORMAL FOR YOU MAY NOT BE WITHIN THE NORMAL RANGE!Good luck and be well!IT IS TIME TO "STOPTHETHYROIDMADNESS"
