I'm sick to my stomach with worry. My son is a week old and through blood test, we were told today that he has congenital hypothyroidism. If left untreated he could suffer from mental retardation. So he is now on med's and has to be seen once a month, and give blood work. Has anyone dealt with this before and can you give me advice on dealing with this. Also, is there a possibolity even with treatment, he can still suffer from mental retardation?
